Waffle factory remake – Home of the week

I really can’t stop being inspired by all the amazing homes on Rum Hemma. This week I want to share this lovely, renovated waffle factory. The building has exaggerated proportions, and lots of space. This has been balanced by upsized furniture and light, airy materials. The raw wood wall is an absolute favorite!

Bicycle, bicycle on the wall

Bicycles are good for travel, good for the environment and good for your health. But they are also works of art, incorporating geometrical shapes in an ingenious way. So why hide away your bike when you can show it off on your wall with FIXA from Chrome Ltd. Found on the blog of these lovely sisters!

Minimalistic bathroom

I’m not usually a fan of complete minimalism, I find it becomes boring because there aren’t enough things to look at, but in bathroom furniture I find it creates a nice calm (maybe combined with Moroccan style tiles on the floor). Anyway I just had to share this minimalistic sink that still managed to intrigue me with its combination of shape and materials. Enjoy!

Focus on Relaxing

Even though most of us don’t spend the majority of our time at home with all the stress of work, exercise, family and hobby. There is a lot of pressure from everywhere to live a certain life, but dare to focus your energy on what you enjoy. If you don’t want to – don’t. Anyway, the time we do spend at home, is usually a time for relaxing, whether that is sleeping on the couch, trying that new recipe or blogging. Home needs to be a place where we can zone out and focus on what makes us happy and relaxed.

So how do we do this? Well, an effort is necessary, though not a very big one. It can be as simple as switching to soothing colours in the bedroom. Just get some new throws in a colour you find relaxing. To me that’s, grey, light blue and nude (but other colours like rust and brown can be just as calming).

The second big thing you can do is de-clutter. Put stuff away, shut it in a cupboard or organize it properly (if you’re ambitious). Even if I find this really difficult, I really appreciate a de-cluttered space when I come home from work, it is some much easier to relax! Give it a try – give everything a proper place and it’ll be easier. You might even be able to make de-cluttering a habit!! Interested? Check this out! Good luck!

Sleepover!

I’m usually not a fan of sleepover sofas, they’re usually either overpriced, uncomfortable, or simple not good-looking. But from the first time I saw this baby in the IKEA magazine that dropped into my postbox, I’ve been wanting it in my future livingroom. It’s jut perfectly designed for all types of hangouts and sleepovers! And I love the cerise color (though I’m probably to cowardly to get it so I’ll probably end up with the grey one, which also is lovely)!

The actual shopping for a sofa has been a nightmare of mine for a while – and I haven’t been looking forward to the many hours of research and testing and walking around in huge warehouses unable to make a decision (because that’s what usually happens when I face a big investment decision), but now that I’ve had my eyes on this one for a while, I’m just hoping it’s as comfy as it is beautiful to look at. But I admit I’m a little worried I’ll be disappointed. That’s probably why I haven’t gone down to the nearest IKEA warehouse to try it out yet… Maybe one day I’ll get my ass of my current sofa and onto this one for a test sitting!
