Valentine Breakfast

Valentine is coming up! Feel the pressure or fear the loneliness. Seems no-one really enjoys Valentines…

Well to make mine nicer this year I’m going to focus on what I like all year around: Mornings! Anyone else who enjoys breakfast more than dinner? Breakfast is my favorite meal by far so why not switch things up this Valentine and enjoy a special breakfast, instead of dinner? Or maybe both? Whether you have someone to spend it with or not, treat yourself (and maybe that other kinda special person by your side) to a romantic, extra long breakfast, either in bed or by a nicely set table. Pancakes, waffles, strawberries, fruit salad, toast, eggs, bacon, steaming tea and coffee, whatever floats your boat. Treat yourself and plan a special morning!

Surprise Me – Spring inspiration

Present time made my day! Their 2014 spring collection is so inspiring, with pastels, light wood (like birch!), dip-dye and other pales!

I just love the cutting boards, and the color palette! It may be a little too “springy” to work all year around in my head, but the blue wall color in this photo is to die for. I actually bought so hobby paint in a similar smokey blue and another in mint green, and I’m hoping to pimp my desk with them (I’ll keep you updated!). The pastels also contrast beautifully with industrial details!

Dip-dyeing simple wooden kitchen utensils in neon, or pastels is such an easy and perfect DIY! Future project!

Trendreport FW 2013

Even though I’ve never been a huge fan of following trends and people telling others what’s “hot” and what’s “not”. I just think it tampers with creative freedom and suppresses people’s will to listen to their own preferences when it comes to style, whether it’s about fashion, make-up or interior design.

But this season, I personally loved that these features became trendy!

Flora and Fauna

I love nature, and anything that brings me closer to it. From details like feathers, to materials like untreated wood. I also love photography. So when photographs of animals and flora started appearing on sheets and pillows I just couldn’t resist (as can be seen here).

Warm Metals

As I’ve mentioned earlier I’m completely hooked on warm metals like copper, brass and gold. Interestingly enough, these metals have been a rare sight in our homes since the flower power 70s when they completely flourished. Now they’re making a comeback, and copper, brass and gold can be found everywhere. I love it!

Graphic

This trend nearly didn’t make this list, but I couldn’t resist, even though I can’t help thinking that this trend has been taken a little too far. As with most things, good things come with moderation. But a nice piece of graphic art to give a room a more modern feel doesn’t hurt!

I really like the Zigzag feature of the graphic trend though!

Christmas inspiration

With the move all the christmas decoration came up, so now I’m really getting into christmas spirit. This mostly means that I’m inspired by lots of christmas crafts that can make our christmas home more personal and less about comsumerism!

Like these santas made from pine cones!

I made my own version with some fabric, wool, string and a gluegun!

Another fun christmas craft is a homemade wreath! I think this Rudolf version is just adorable! And so easy to make!

Some other (not so traditional crafts) that I find extra inspiring this Christmas are:

Alternative Christmas Trees.

Personally I love the traditional Christmas tree which, for me as a Swede always is a real tree! But if you’re low on space, or simply don’t live in the climate of Christmas trees, I’d go with one of these rather than a plastic tree!

Eco-Friendly Fire Starters

If you’re lucky enough to have a fireplace, why not make these sweethearts? And they make your home smell like Christmas (or just like cinnamon, depending on what you prefer!)

Candles

If you don’t have a fireplace, fill your home with candles! The variation is endless and you can create and kind of mood you like!
